Welcome to my world of Whisky and here is a sneak peak at my private collection. My love of Whisky grew as my palate developed. I started to be curious about this hard water. I learned what I could about the skill required by the Distiller, the processes of distillation and the great in finishing what starts as clear spirit. In this first blog about whisky,  I will share with you my experiences with Whisky and I invite you to discover Whisky with me. It’s all about the journey!

This month friends gave me a gift of this fabulous bottle of ‘The Balvenie 14 year old Caribbean Cask’. I rate this whisky highly for people wanting to try Whisky for the first time. A whisky like this sells for around AU$85.00 and is sensational value. The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 year old single malt whisky was matured in traditional oak whisky casks for 14 years. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE then finished this glorious drop in American oak casks that had been soaked with his own blend of select West Indian rum.

So, what is it like?

Smells like: Rich caramel tones, spice and fruit – makes me salivate just thinking about it.

Tastes like: A gorgeous rich creamy soda with spiced rum and honey flavours lightly dancing on your tongue.

Leaves me with: A lingering desire for another. She is long on the palate and this delicious drop leaves me thinking of home on a cold winter Sunday night by the fire.

My Rating: 4/5

For those cigar lovers like me, it goes well with a Monte Cristo No.4.
